As its editors point out, most of the contributors to this collection are less concerned with probing or elucidating Bourdieu’s work than with bringing his insights to bear on their own projects in domains such as cultural studies and literary history. The wide range of subjects explored, including the television personality Roseanne, Victorian literature by women, John Gardner, and modern jazz, makes for eclectic reading and provides a glimpse of the extent to which Bourdieu’s theories of culture have gained widespread currency in the humanities.
